Eliza's history with Animals
Eliza Leahy is an Australian Artist with a deep love and understanding of animals. She has worked as a Professional Dog trainer, with dogs in both advertising and security work, as well as solving any little problems pet owners might have. She has worked on a farm, getting Percheron Horses ready for show, and doing the daily chores that go from feeding morning and night to gentling horses and teaching baby cows how to lead!
Eliza has even had her own herd of milk goats, which she loved.
On a reluctant move back to the city, which was necessary to be near medical treatment, Eliza lovingly adopted cats as a substitute for the larger animals she was previously use to.
Now Eliza shares her home with three Cockatiels, three Devon Rex cats and her Assistance Dog, Gem, a Papillon.
History of her Art
Eliza's art stems from her love of animals. Although she will draw, paint, scratch, any subject, it's the animals that she loves and always returns to.
Eliza's art training came from within. She did not attend college but has always been a voracious reader. The desire to create art led to constant drawing, which worked as continual improvement in technique.
Eliza has worked in colored pencil, watercolors, oil paints, acrylics and pastels, but now prefers the beautiful and unique medium of Scratchboard (see "About Scratchboard" for information on this medium).
